The Band

McKaela Jones is a 16-year old from Neptune, New Jersey. She is the bass player and backing vocalist for Marel Hidalgo & The Stone Feathers.

McKaela showed a love for music and the arts at an early age. At 6 yrs old she began taking guitar lessons and learning music at Big Beat Music Studio. For the last 2 years she is under the instruction of Jerry Franklin, in which she has excelled. She has participated in the Jazz Band at Neptune High School, and the Rock Band at Big Beat Music Studio. McKaela’s loves a wide range of genres of music from soul to rock. Her musical influences are Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Bootsy Collins, India Arie, Nik West and Malina Moye.

McKaela was invited to participate with Marel Hidalgo and friends in the spring /summer of 2016 where they played various festivals and other venues. Mckaela loves the friendships that she has with her bandmates and being the funky soul child of Marel and the Stone Feathers band. She looks forward to keep growing and playing music and to keep chasing her dreams as a musician.

 Bass - Percussion

Ben Figuly is a 14 year old drummer from Wall Township NJ. Ben first started drumming when he was 9 years old under popular local jazz musician Alan Abraham, after learning saxophone and guitar. He is in his second year of playing with the Jazz Arts Project in Red Bank, New Jersey. You may have seen Ben performing at venues such as Count Basie Theatre, Two River Theatre, Riverside Gardens Park, and festivals around New Jersey. 

  Ben has performed with the Red Bank Jazz Orchestra, and has studied under and performed with well known musicians such as saxophonists Bruce Williams and Anthony Nelson Jr., trombonist Conrad Herwig, drummer David Gibson, and internationally known conductor and producer Joe Muccioli.

Ben has always enjoyed music across all genres, from rock to jazz. He looks forward to many future performances with Marel Hidalgo and the Stone Feathers.

Ben Figuly:

Drums - Percussion 

Dawn began playing acoustic guitar and songwriting when she was 15 and at age 28 she attended Berklee School of Music for two semesters. During that time she studied guitar and was one of 11 songwriters to win the opportunity to perform on the Berklee stage.


At the time, Dawn was also a top ranked professional billiard player on the WPBA Tour, and a career offer took her in that direction. Her musical love connected Dawn with other musicians in the billiard world and she produced a CD featuring 7 songwriters called "The Other Side" in which Albert Lee performs on several of Dawn's songs.


For three years she was the keyboard player for the band "Midnight Social" and  currently is part of  "Me and Bobby D Band" and "Marel Hidalgo & The Stone Feathers"

She continues to compete as a top ranked player on the WPBA and is the owner of a franchise for an amateur pool league called Jersey Shore APA ( 

Dawn Hopkins:

Rhythm Guitar - Bass

James is a very talented multi-instrumentalist from Spring Lake, NJ that plays keyboards, lead, slide and fingerstyle guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, violin, viola, cello, drums/percussion, clarinet, saxophones, flute, recorder, pedal steel guitar, trumpet, diatonic/blues and chromatic harmonica, etc. and also sings.

He has tour extensively in the US and many other countries during his career. James started collaborating with Marel Hidalgo back in 2017 and ever since has been an inspiration for him. and the rest of the band. 


James Graff:

Keyboards, saxophon, violin, flute 

Jerry is a guitar player and composer from Neptune City, NJ, and has been Marel`s teacher and mentor since they met when Marel was 4 years old. Jerry is currently a teacher at Big Beat Music Studio and member of "Metal Life Crisis" and "Franklin / Tolliver Project" with legendary drummer T.C. Tolliver (Plasmatics). 

As part of many bands, Jerry has toured the USA and Europe. He was also part of "Marel & Friends", the first band Marel formed when he was six years old back in 2015.

Jerry Franklin:



Dan Mulvey is a veteran Jersey Shore upright and electric bassist.

Besides playing with Marel Hidalgo, Daniel also performs and records with Kenny "Stringbean" Sorensen's band, and performed and recorded with beloved Jersey Shore guitarist Sonny Kenn for 12 years.

Dan has backed blues legend Hubert Sumlin (Howlin'

Wolf's guitarist), including Mr. Sumlin's final club dates at Iridium in New York.

He has also backed blues artists Sonny Rhodes and Leo

"Bud" Welch, and has performed with Kim Wilson, Bernard Purdie, The Preservation Hall horns, Frank Beecher (Bill Haley and the Comets guitarist from1955 to 1960), Sim Cain, Nicole Atkins, Billy Hector, Joe Taino, Jeff Levine, Andy Keenan, and many other fine musicians. He has opened for many blues, rock, and roots greats, including Link Wray, The Ventures, and James Cotton. In addition to many festivals and club dates in the NY/NJ/Philadelphia area, he has performed in France and in the Mississippi hill country.
